The Tox, initiated in 1966 by the Swiss Society of Pharmacists (SSPh) in cooperation with the University of Zurich, is a Foundation devoted to Toxicological Information with particular emphasis on Poison Control. The STIC is presently supported by the Swiss Cantons, the University of Zurich, the SGCI Chemie Pharma Schweiz(SGCI), the main Swiss Insurance Organisations ( SUVA, Schweizerischen Versicherungsverband (SVV), santésuisse (SAS)) and the Swiss Society of Pharmacists (SSPh).
	It provides free medical advice in cases of poisoning and poisoning risks to everybody in Switzerland around the clock: Emergency Phone 145 (24 h, +41 44 251 5151 from outside Switzerland)
	It collects case reports from the treating physicians.
	It produces risk-assessment reports for the medical community, as well as for government and industry.
	It is active in the field of prevention.
